SOH 25cm Sauteuse Silverlined

Published on 23 January 2025 at 20:33

It was 18 Januari when i saw this sauteuse on a Dutch website, i knew because the way it is build and the oxidation of the inside it has to be Silver lined. After a short chat with seller the deal was done. To buy items like this not seing them in real is always a gamble, if is the lining is intact and usable its a awesome find  if not it is at very high cost te gives it a new silver inside.

The day after DHL knocked on my door..... First impression is that it is well packedge and the box haves a nice weight that is prommising.

Lets unpack it, lets go, Lets check the inside!

I take a close look to the silver-lining  to see if to see if I can see any damage so far so good it appears to be in good condition, the pan havent been used at display i can tell because of the greese in the pan.  The next thing i look at is the stamp "SOH" Societé d'Orfèvrerie Hotelière.

There is not much to be found about the SOH beside that they siverplate items like jewerly and tableware and kitchenware evidently, I wonder who have made these pans. If someones knows please leave a comment.

What i found was "SOH, Paris a limited company with a board of directors, registered under SIREN 562039826, was active for 83 years. Located in PARIS (75003), it specialized in the jewelry sector.  The company SOCIETE D’ORFEVRERIE HOTELIERE was closed on December 25, 1984"

I started cleaning up with hot water and soup, dried up well and used the Brasso silver cleaner i always use for it. It didnt go easy but once the black started to change in grey and my soft cloth turned black i I knew it would turn out fine and it did. Once the inside was done the result gives a wonderfull mirror shine. The outsite cleaned up nice and smooth with my Spring Culinox Copper cleaner, what was left to be be done was wash it and give it a hug with my polishing machine.

All in all I am very pleased with the result and I am sure it will be well preserved for the next generation,

Thanks for reading, have a great Copper day!
